CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City State University’s online courses have received recognition for quality and value in several online rankings this fall.

VCSU programs receiving recognition include the technology concentrations in its Master of Education program, the online Bachelor’s program in education, the overall online teaching program and the university’s online business offerings.

Best Value Online Master’s in Educational & Instructional Technology 2014–15. VCSU’s online Master’s of Education (M.Ed.) program concentrations in technology and education, teaching and technology, and library and information technologies were ranked No. 6 in TopMastersInEducation.com’s annual “Best Value” rankings for online Master’s in Educational Technology degree programs based on cost, quality and accreditation.

The rankings, the Best Value Online Master’s in Educational and Instructional Technology 2014–15, recognized the “ lowest priced, highest quality, regionally accredited online M.Ed. educational and instructional technology programs” in the nation.

Best Online Teaching Degrees for 2015. Affordable Colleges (AC) Online recognized ranked VCSU No. 10 in its “Best Online Teaching Degrees for 2015.” VCSU was recognized based on the number of online teaching programs available, student-faculty ratio, six-year graduation rate, percentage of students receiving financial aid, educator preparation program accreditation and a peer-based value metric.

In describing the schools in its rankings, AC Online said that these are “…online teaching degree programs that make a difference. Not only do they have the right balance of cost and quality, but they also boast an increasing collection of program opportunities for aspiring teachers to consider.”

2015 Best Value Online Business Degrees VCSU’s online business programs—business education and business process integration management—were recognized at the No. 11 spot in Online U’s 2015 “Best Value Online Business Degrees.”

VCSU interim president Margaret Dahlberg says the business process integration management degree is especially attractive in that it combines business knowledge, computer expertise, and soft skills—communication tools—in a single program. She says our business faculty developed this major in consultation with their advisory board so that we have the right combination for today’s business environment.

Best Online Bachelor’s in Education: Students Before Profits Award 2014–15. VCSU’s online Bachelor’s in Education program has been ranked No. 13 by Nonprofit Colleges Online, receiving a 2014–15 Students Before Profits Award.

“The Students Before Profits Award was created to promote nonprofit colleges and universities offering online degree programs that put students before profits and education before the bottom line,” according to Nonprofit Colleges Online.
