N.D. (NewsDakota.com) West Fargo Sheyenne eliminated Valley City Friday afternoon in the Class A East Region Volleyball Tournament at Shanley High School. The Mustangs beat the Hi-Liners for the third time this season 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-22.) Sheyenne will face Fargo South or Shanley in a state qualifier on Saturday morning at 11:00.

 
The Mustangs lead much of the first set, with just one tie at 2-2. They extended the lead to 15-9, only to see Valley City rally to trim it to 16-14, then later at 21-18. However, the Hi-Liners did not grab the lead in the first set, eventually falling 25-21. 
 
The Hi-Liners grabbed the early lead in the 2nd set, 4-2. Sheyenne scored seven of the next eight points to lead 9-5. The Mustangs extended the lead to 16-9. A late Valley City rally trimmed to lead to 21-19, but couldn’t complete the comeback as the Mustangs won 25-19.
 
Helped by a pair of ace serves for Charlotte Huschka, Valley City led 4-0 early in the 3rd set. The lead was 6-3 before Sheyenne rallied for nine consecutive points to take a 12-6 lead. The Hi-Liners stayed withing reach, trimming the deficit to 16-14, and later 20-19. However, the Mustangs came up with three key side outs late and won 25-21.
 
Freshman Kalli Hegerle lead Sheyenne with 17 kills and two blocks. Jasmine Bruer was also a force in the front row, adding eight kills and six blocks for the Mustangs. Clarissa Olson had a solid match for the Hi-Liners, recording 16 kills and four blocks. Brenna Dieterle added eight kills and two blocks. 
 
Valley City ends the season 22-16.
