CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Cokato, Minnesota man was killed when the vehicle he was driving lost control and struck a tow truck near Valley City on Wednesday, November 5 around 11:45 p.m.

The Highway Patrol says 40 year-old Gregory Hillukka was traveling eastbound on I-94 one mile east of Valley City when he lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle struck the rear-end of a tow truck that was parked on the shoulder of the road. The truck had its emergency lights on and was removing vehicles from the ditch involved in a prior crash.

Hillukka was pronounced dead at the scene. The tow truck operator was injured after debris from the crash struck the operator. The man was taken to CHI Mercy Health and treated and released for his injuries. The crash remains under investigation with the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
