N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has announced a new saturation event to help enforce the ‘move over’ law in the state that will take place Friday.
Troopers are going to work in teams and all violations will be strictly enforced. Drivers will be fined $50 and receive two points on their driving record. The ‘move over’ law states that vehicles must move to a lane not adjacent to an emergency vehicle while its stationary and flashing its lights. If a driver cannot move to another lane, they must proceed with caution and reduce their speed. Motorists are required to move over for all authorized emergency vehicles in addition to wreckers and highway maintenance vehicles.
If a motorist fails to move over, it could have devastating consequences to all those involved. The event will be held statewide on Friday, October 3rd.
