Forks, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Hi-Liner tennis team had a tough time at this years East Region Tournament in Grand Forks. The Hi-Liners were eliminated from team play on the opening day with losses of 5-0 to both Grand Forks Red River and Fargo Davies.

In the individual tournament, the Valley City Duo of Dalton Ondracek and Brandon Miller finished the weekend 2-3 qualifying for the state tournament as the eighth seed from the east.  The Hi-Liners duo had to work for the final state spot. They earned the trip with a 7-6 (9-7), 6-7(9-7), 7-6 (7-4) victory over Fargo Shanley’s Steffes and Schultz.

 

At the conclusion of the weekend tournament, Ondracek was named to All-Eastern Dakota Conference team.

The state tournament takes place October 2-4 at the Grand Forks Choice Health and Fitness.
