CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Grand Forks Red Rive defeated Valley City on the volleyball court Thursday night in a two point Eastern Dakota Conference match up by a score of 3-1 (25-21, 25-14, 27-25, 25-10).
The Hi-Liners fall to 5-5 in the EDC. They now hold a 16-5 overall record on the year.
Red River got off to a quick start taking games one and two behind the strong play of Ellie Strand who led the Rough Riders with 10 kills on the night.
The Hi-Liners fought back in game three forcing the it into extra points before taking the win off of the hands of Red River. However, it would be the only victory for the Hi-Liners as they dropped the final game by double digits.
Claire Olson led thee Hi-Liners with 20 kills on the night, Brenna Dieterle helped VCHS with 10 Kills while Ellie Winter sent home six on the night. Sam Coit led Valley in assists with 31.
The Rough Riders made scoring a team affair with Hannah Arason right behind Strand with 9 kills. Taylor Adam, Keana Burr and Kya Glenn each had 9 in the game.
Hi-Liners return to EDC play on October 2 at Fargo Shanley.
