(NewsDakota.com)  Another busy weekend of sports for Cardinal fans, as all three fall sports teams were in action.  The No. 5 Cardinal football team improved to 3-0 in Class A Region 1 and 4-0 overall when they beat Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm last Friday night 77-0 for homecoming.  The Cardinal Volleyball team placed sixth in the Valley City Optimist Tourney and Cross Country placed eighth in both boys and girls at the Valley City Invitational.  Here are the results:

The Cardinals had a total of 543 yards of offensive and only allowed 19 total yards to the Thunder.  In the last two games, Carrington’s defense has allowed just 22 yards of total offense.  Seth Abaurrea had six carries for 182 yards and three touchdowns.  Walker Carr was the leading receiver with two catches for 71 yards and a touchdown.  Quarterback Brady Smith was four of five with 148 yards and three touchdown passes.

Cardinal Volleyball – sixth place

 The Cardinals did not win a game in pool play against Northern Cass, Valley City and Oakes, going 0-3, putting them into the consolation bracket of the Valley City Optimist Tourney last Saturday.  The Cards fought their way back and won three games in a row against Glen Ullin-Hebron, South Border and Dickinson Trinity to put them into the consolation championship game.  But Northern Cass would beat Carrington for the second time in the Tourney to take fifth place.  Carrington is now 13-3 overall.

Next up for Carrington will be a District 5 match-up with Lamoure on this Tuesday night in Carrington, pregame will start about 6:45pm, first serve around 7pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com.

Cross Country – eighth place, boys and girls

Carrington had one runner from each of the girls and boys teams finish in the individual top 20 last Saturday at the Valley City Invitational.  The boys team finished with a total of 305, Austin Konschak of Carrington finished in 16th place at 18:31.  The girls finished with 187, Amanda Jarrett of Carrington finished in sixth place with 16:25.

Cross Country is at Casselton this Thursday at 4:30pm.
