Glen Haisley, 81, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on September 20, 2014.
His memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church, LaMoure.

Larry was born to Glenn and Lillian (Albertson) Haisley in Glover, ND on March 5, 1933. He played football for and graduated from LaMoure High School in 1952. Larry was especially proud of the success of his high school football team that went an entire season undefeated and unscored upon (something that had never been done or since repeated in LaMoure). Go Loboes!

In 1953, Larry married Marlys Smith and together they raised three children; Larry, Terry, and Merlynn.

Larry’s career began working for Milwaukee Steel Mill. He moved back to LaMoure and worked for Texaco and then Gentzkow Trucking. Next, he purchased a farm and while farming he also worked for Froelich Feeds. In 1969 he began working for Melroe while continuing to farm. Then in 1971 the farm was sold and the family moved to town, where he continued to work for Melroe until his retirement in 1997. He worked on the family farm with his brothers Merle and Ed until 2010.

Larry was a man of few words, but when he spoke people listened. He had a mischievous sense of humor and enjoyed playing tricks on his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Along with a big heart, he had an even bigger sweet tooth. You would never find him without a Kit Kat. If you were ever looking for him, you could usually find him at the Dairy Bar in LaMoure or the Little Cottage in Bismarck socializing with friends trying to find the next great deal. He was an avid follower of the current weather, crop prices, or anything to do with farming or ranching. He enjoyed fishing and hunting even making a trip to Alaska to fish for salmon. In the last few years he has enjoyed spending his winters at his home in Arizona, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings.

Larry will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his three children, Larry (Kristen) Haisley, Terry Haisley, and Merlynn (Carter) Vander Wal; his grandchildren, Lura (Karl) Spears, Teha (Brett) Bina, Tanie (Brad) Boeddeker, and Ben Brodigan; two great-grandchildren, Ajura and Ahmi Spears; brothers, Merle (Grace) Haisley and Ed (Diane) Haisley; and a special friend, Myra (Pink) Larson. He is preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be sent to the American Diabetes Association or Central Dakota Humane Society.
