CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liners boys tennis team dropped a tough contest at home to Fargo Davies, 8-1, on Thursday night.
The Hi-Liners lone win came in #1 Singles where Dalton Ondracek defeated Corey Herman in three games (6-3, 4-6, 7-5). Ondracek pulled out the match after seeing the final set go to deuce point. In a clutch performance, Ondracek picked up the final point preventing the game from entering a tiebreak.
Valley City also had a strong showing in doubles falling just short in the #1 and #3 matches. Riley Miller and Hunter Burchill played a close match in the #3 doubles. The Hi-Liners duo would drop the first game before fighting back to picked up a close 7-6 (3) victory in the second game. Unfortunately for the Miller and Burchill they would drop the final game 6-2 losing the match 2-1.
The number one doubles team of Ondracek and Brandon Miller picked up a victory in their first set. However, they could not hold on for the match victory as they fell in the final two sets to Thomas Laven and Nate Thoreson 7-5, 3-6, 4-6.
The Hi-Liners return to the court on Saturday for West Fargo Invite. They will open up play against Mandan at 11am.
