A. Robbins, daughter of Frank and C. Annette (Reed) Robbins was born on December 9, 1916 in Shuman Township, south of Milnor, North Dakota. She attended rural school at Shuman Township #3, and graduated from Milnor High School with the class of 1934. After her schooling, Irene made her home in Fargo, North Dakota for two years and worked as a caregiver for children and people who were in need of assistance while recuperating. She then moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where she was employed at the Scott’s Store and also attended North Central Bible Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota for one year. After eight years of making her home in Fergus Falls, Irene relocated to Wilton, North Dakota and worked in Christian Education for two years. She then moved to California and received her Bachelors Degree in Christian Education. She also worked for eight years at the Federal Reserve Bank, San Francisco, California. In 1960, Irene moved to Forman, North Dakota to care for her elderly parents. While living in Forman, she was employed at the Britton Hospital, for Dr. Lewis in Lisbon, and the Melroe Company in Gwinner. In 1963, Irene became the Sargent County Treasurer and held that position until her retirement in 1983. In 1995, Irene moved to Milnor and in October of 2006, she became a resident of the Dakota Estates Assisted Living in Lidgerwood, North Dakota. Irene moved into St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton on December 9, 2013, where she died on August 22, 2014 at the age of 97.

Irene, who was never married, took care of a lot of people over her lifetime; nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends, and whoever needed help, including her elderly parents until their deaths. She was also a great spiritual leader and mentor to many, leading bible studies in her church over the years. She lived her faith every day of her life.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Harriet Ellefson, and three brothers, Clayton, Harold and Raymond.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by her funeral at 2:00 p.m. at the Milnor United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Milnor. An on-line guestbook may be signed at www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com
