(UJ Sports Information) – University of Jamestown head men’s basketball coach Alan Magnani has announced the signing of Vlad Stoicoviciu.
Stoicoviciu (Bucharest, Romania) is 6’5″ and has four seasons of eligibility remaining after spending last year as a redshirt at the University of South Dakota. Before South Dakota, he prepped at Cairo American College, where he averaged over 30 PPG and 10 RPG. Vlad led Cairo American College to a third place finish at the Championships, where he was named MVP.
Vlad has also represented the Romanian National Team five times in three different categories. He has represented the Under 16 Romanian Team (2010), Under 18 Romanian National Team (2011 and 2012), and the Under 20 Romanian National Team (2013 and 2014). Vlad’s career highs are 22 points against Norway and 20 rebounds against Slovenia. His Romanian National team placed 7th at the FIBA U20 2013 European Championships, where he averaged 9.1 PPG and 5.6 RPG.
He plans to major in Computer Science.
