Anthony Drake, 23, of Valley City, North Dakota, passed away on August 4, 2014. Funeral Services will be conducted at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City on Friday at 2pm, with Rev. Randall Schlecht officiating. Prayer service will also be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 7pm. Visitation will begin at 5PM at the church.
Max was born on July 4, 1991 in Jamestown, North Dakota. He graduated from Valley City High School in 2009. After graduation Max opened a Budget Burger in Custer, South Dakota which he ran for three years. He then decided to try something different. He moved back home and started selling cars at Gateway in Fargo. After two years of selling cars Max wanted to open a yogurt store. He named it Roxy’s after his late sister who passed away in 2013 and never got the chance to open her own.
Max had this light about him, he could walk up to just about anyone and start a conversation about anything. It seemed as if he knew everything in which he thought he did. If you had the privilege of meeting this truly amazing man even once you knew he did. Max knew what he wanted and he strived to get it. He traveled the country in pursuit of his happiness and surrounded himself with people who loved him and made him happy. Max was always there to give advice to his siblings. He was the protector of his family. Max was a true friend; once you were in you were in for life, never failing to go the distance for someone he loved. He was a momma’s boy. No one loved him like his mother. From the day he was born they had a bond that will never fade. No one could make you feel better then Max, if he couldn’t talk you into feeling better he would bring out the big guns and give you a hug! There was nothing in the world like a big hug from Max, it never failed to make you feel better. Max was the type of person you could trust. He was an honorable man that treated everyone with respect.
Max loved target shooting and hunting. He loved music. Max would sing a song and change the words just for the sake of a laugh, he knew facts about the artist and all the words to almost any song. Yelawolf was his favorite musical artist. One of Max’s happiest moments was when he met Yelawolf and stage dived and crowed surfed at his concert in Denver. Cars, Max knew cars. Anything you wanted to know he could tell you. In his past time Max enjoyed bowling and watching MMA fighting. Chive on Max!
Max is survived by his parents: Robert and Tammy Drake; brothers Tony and Sam Drake; sisters Erin, McKenzie and Maddy Drake; Nephews Dalton Drake, Andy Deutsch and Payne Drake; niece Savannah Drake; Cousins Danny, Jessica Lund and Dawson Lund-Sticken; Uncles Tom Drake and Todd Lund; Aunt Melissa Lund and Grandparents Duane and Audrey Lund, Marie Drake. Max was preceded in death by his sister Roxanne Drake, Grandfather Francis Drake, Grandmother Rosella Drake, Aunt Carol Calhoon and nephew Drake Svenningsen.
