(NewsDakota.com) For the first time in the 2014 North Dakota American Legion Class B Baseball Tournament, the young men representing Carrington Post 25 were able to come out victorious by more than just one run. Post 25 took down Thompson 5-0 in the final of the three games on Friday at American Legion Field to advance to Sunday’s Championship round as the only team remaining without a loss after Friday’s action.

Logan Clifton, who had been the winning run against Enderlin the night before, pitched a four-hitter against Thompson. Meanwhile, Carrington scattered 10 hits off of Thompson pitching; including a triple from Easton Paeper. Everyone who batted for Post 25 found a way to reach base. Patrick Freeman was two for two with two singles and a run scored for Carrington, who now stand at 24-11.

In the two loser-out games, LaMoure Post 19 saw their season come to an end with a 3-2 loss to Langdon in eight innings. In his final Legion game, Jared Meiklejohn took the loss throwing all 10 innings and allowed nine hits. LaMoure had only two hits the entire game; singles from Anthony Olson in the third, and Meiklejohn in the sixth. Post 19’s season ends with a 30-10 mark.

The second loser-out contest saw Enderlin edge Nelson County 5-2. Post 221 only picked up hits in the fifth inning. Enderlin had five hits in that inning, including a three run home run by the winning pitcher Wyatt Aberle. Daniel Lingren and Spencer Gillund followed Aberle’s home run with doubles to improve to 29-10.

Saturday’s play starts at 2 p.m. with Langdon and Thompson, followed by Enderlin and Carrington at 5 p.m. Should Carrington win, they would face the winner of Langdon/Thompson at 1 p.m. Saturday, and that team would need to beat Carrington twice to win the State Championship. If Enderlin is victorious, they would face the winner of Langdon/Thompson Sunday at 1, with the winner playing Carrington afterwards in a winner-take-all for the State Title.

Coverage of Enderlin/Carrington on Saturday will start around 4:45 p.m. on Q101.1FM and NewsDakota.com.
