S. Heinrich, 96, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Medina, ND died at Eventide Jamestown on July 28, 2014. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Jamestown. Burial will be in the Medina Cemetery.
There will be visitation at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel on Friday beginning at 1:00 PM and will continue until the prayer service begins at 7:00 PM.
Harold Sandro Heinrich was born October 27, 1917 in Medina, ND, the son of John and Caroline (Reister) Heinrich. He attended rural school before joining the service. He was inducted into the US Army on March 30, 1942 and was honorably discharged on January 3, 1946. After his return home, he began farming.
On June 2, 1946, he married Esther Hochhalter in Medina. They made their home there until moving to Jamestown in 1960. Harold worked at Jamestown College and Haybuster before going to work for Stutsman County Highway Department. After retiring, he helped his son and other area farmers. Esther passed away on August 30, 1990.
Harold was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ as well as the Eagles Club, American Legion and the Dusty Trail Riders. He liked to cook and bake and was known to try new recipes. Horses were one of his loves in life as well as reading a good western paperback.
Harold is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Catherine) Heinrich of Jamestown; two step grandchildren, Myrle (Deb Smith) Hartman and Michael Hartman; a brother, Clarence of Fargo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Leo, Rieny, and Edwin; and sisters, Ella Witmeier and Hilda Simes.
