CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) In a 10-0 victory over Lisbon, Valley City’s Babe Ruth team earned their second consecutive District Six Championship at Charlie Brown Field on Tuesday night.
Valley City’s scoring got started in the first inning when Drew Oberlander had a 2 RBI double to left field. They would post one more run before the opening frame came to an end.
On the mound Dawson Dietrich was a riddle that Lisbon could not solve. The Valley City ace scattered six hits in the game and walked just one batter in a complete game shutout.
A five run offensive explosion from VC in the fifth stanza drew an early end to the contest as Nate Rodriguez crossed the plate for the 10th run of the game.
At the plate Oberlander led all Valley hitters with 4 RBIs in the game. Garret Suhr plated one run off of his bat.

Despite the loss, Lisbon had a remarkable run in the tournament. After dropping the opening game to Ellendale, they would come back to win four straight and fight through a one day weather delay to find their way into the championship match.
As the District Six champion Valley City now makes their way to the State Tournament on August 1st in New Rockford.
