Hollinshead, age 92, of Valley City, ND, formerly of Rogers, ND, died Monday, July 21, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Valley City. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 24th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church near Dazey, ND. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Lerud Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday morning. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Valley City. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery near Dazey, ND.
Anna Elizabeth Weisbrich, the daughter of Gerhard and Philomena (Kunze) Weisbrich, was born November 26, 1921 in the village of Muhlsdorf, County of Neustadt, Germany. Anna grew up and attended school in Lindenwiese, Germany. At the age of 30, she immigrated to the United States. She lived and worked for a time in Edgeley, ND before moving to Valley City where she worked at Mercy Hospital. On April 8, 1953 she married Wayland Hollinshead in Valley City, ND. The couple lived and farmed in the Rogers area until October 15, 2003 when Wayland died. Anna continued to live in the Rogers area until July, 2007 when she moved to the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. Anna loved to garden, grow flowers, knitting, crochet, cross stitch and help do farm work.
Anna is survived by her children, Stroud (Janelle) Hollinshead, David (Patty) Hollinshead, Eugene Hollinshead, Edward (Mary) Hollinshead, all Rogers, ND, Linda Hollinshead, Loma, CA, John Hollinshead, Bennett, CO, Anne (Richard) Rowe, Edgerton, KS and Margaret Dorfman, Atlanta, GA; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, one brother, a daughter-in-law Debbie Hollinshead and one grandson.
The family prefers memorials be addressed to the St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.
