N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department pursued a vehicle through the city of Jamestown at around 1:45 PM Monday afternoon.
Police Chief Scott Edinger stated that the driver of the vehicle, 38 year old John Martin Rech of Reno, Nevada, started exhibiting road rage to an unmarked police vehicle.
Pursuit continued to Highway 281 South to the State Hospital road. Edinger said during the chase, Rech attempted to crash into police and pedestrians.
Rech drove out of town and then back into town, where he was apprehended behind Dakota Engine Builders. Chief Edinger stated that officers were unaware that a five month old child and a two year old child were in the vehicle during the chase. No one was injured during the chase. Both children have since been turned over to Stutsman County Social Services.
Rech has outstanding warrants currently in Reno, Nevada according to Chief Edinger. It is not known if the children are his.
