CITY, N.D (NewsDaktoa.com) The Valley City Babe Ruth team has only one loss in the district this season, on Thursday night they got their chance to right that wrong when they hosted Napoleon at Charlie Brown Field. Behind a strong pitching and hitting performance from Nate Rodriguez they would get the win in a 6-2 final.
With the win Valley City advances to 26-6 on the season and they advance to 15-1 in District Six.
Rodriguez played the role of the thorn in the side of Napoleon, driving in three runs on three hits. On the mound he was even more impressive recording 15 strikeouts and allowing just two runs on five hits.
At the dish, Valley’s Gareet Suhr and Drew Oberlander were also electric combining for six of the teams 11 hits. Oberlander collected four of them in perfect night at the plate.
The two teams also played a three inning exhibition. Napoleon won that game by a score of 4-0.
Valley City returns to the diamond on Monday night when thye host Steele for a District Six double header at 5pm.
