(NewsDakota.com) For the second day in a row, Post 25 was in action last night for another important region showdown, this time with May/Port CG Post 8. Carrington won the first game 6-1 but lost the second game 10-6. Carrington is now 10-6 overall and 6-4 in the central region, May/Port CG is 8-2 in the central region and 11-3 overall.
In the first game, starting pitcher Brady Smith would give up only one run on three hits to Post 8 and get the complete game victory. Smith had only 68 total pitches with three stikeouts and one walk. Brett Lyman was 2-for-3 at the plate with double. Austin Hewitt and Alex Jarrett both had a hit and two RBI each. Left fielder Isaac Nepstad had a great night defensively for Post 8. In the fifth inning, Nepstad made a diving catch to retire Austin Hewitt, then two batters later he would throw out a runner at first from left field. Aaron Evens took the loss, he pitched three innings giving up all six runs on six hits.
In the night cap game, Post 25 would score three runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at six all, but Post 8 would score four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 10-6 lead going into the seventh inning. After retiring Braxton Hewitt, Jacob Klath would give up a hit to Marcus Hewitt in the top of the seventh, but would get Alex Jarrett to ground into double play to end the game. Klath would get the complete game victory on 86 pitches, one strikeout and one walk. Isaac Nepstad had another great defensive play in the fourth inning, when he threw out a runner at homeplate from left field. Marcus Hewitt took the loss in relief of Patrick Freeman.
