Gudmestad, 71, of Lisbon, ND died on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.

Faye Rica was born on January 28, 1943 in Sexsmith, Alberta, Canada to Leo and Dora (Cordrey) Nelson. She attended grade school in Alberta before moving to the United States with her family in 1959. Faye graduated from Lisbon High School in 1961 and began working at Community Memorial Hospital in Lisbon at that same time.

In 1964 Faye married Duane Smith and they made their home in Lisbon for 16 years before his death in 1980. During their time together, Faye worked with the Lisbon Ambulance Service and Parkside Nursing home. In 1983 she married Lyle Gudmestad. In addition to serving the residents of Parkside Lutheran for 29 years, Faye enjoyed helping Lyle farm near Litchville, making music, playing cards – especially pinochle, going to dances with Lyle, and spending time with their five grandchildren.

She is survived by her Husband; her Son, Robert (Michelle) Smith of Lisbon, ND; Step daughter, Shelly (Dave) Bruse, Litchville, ND; 5 grandchildren; 2 great Grandchildren; her sister, Joyce Even, Gwinner, ND; Brother, Kenneth (Tabitha) Nelson of Vancouver, British Columbia; Brothers-in-law, Walt Smith, Rock River, WY, and Neil (Arne) Gudmestad, Ottertail, MN; Sisters-in-law, Marylou (Jerome) Fick, Litchville, ND, Carol (Gerald) Pischel, Beulah, ND, Dorothy Larson, Lamoure, ND, Diane Gudmestad, Jamestown, ND, Lois (Gerald) Opdahl, Jamestown, ND and Gloria Gudmestad, Perham, MN; as well as several nieces and nephews. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her Sister, Joan Harris and her Brother, Larry Nelson.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon starting at 2:30 p.m. Her burial will take place at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon. An online guestbook may be signed at www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com
