CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) The NFL Leadership Program was in Valley City this weekend speaking to area high school football players about what it means to play that role both on and off the field.
Former Boston College All-American and eight year veteran of the NFL, Pete Mitchell, spoke to the young athletes about what it means to be leader. He also warned them about the dangers that social media can bring and talked about some of the positives things they can do while working on the internet.
After Mitchell was finished speaking with the group, they made their way to the Valley City Barnes County Library where they read picture books to young football fans, for the NFL Project Literacy initiative.
When the day came to an end, it was not only a chance for the high school athletes to hear about what it means to be a leader, but an opportunity to display what they had learned by reading to the young kids who look up to them.
