(NewsDakota.com) Class B Carrington Post 25 Baseball team kicked off their season yesterday at Class A Washburn. Post 25 won the first game 6-3, then Washburn Post 12 came back in the second game and won 1-0. Both Carrington and Washburn are 1-1 overall.
During the first game, the score was tied at 1 going into the fifth inning when Carrington exploded for five runs to take a 6-1 lead. Carrington’s Patrick Freeman started the onslaught with a 2-run double while Alex Jarrett, two batters later, followed with a 2 run single. Freeman was 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and a walk, Jarrett was 1-for-4 with two RBI. Brett Lyman was 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI as well. Freeman was the winning pitcher allowing only one run on three hits, going five complete innings on 79 pitches, five strikeouts and three walks. Logan Clifton worked in relief for two innings for Post 25.
Next up for Carrington Post 25 will be Monday, June 9th at Hunter against Gardner for two seven inning games, these games will not be broadcast due to Dirt Talk starting at 5:30pm. The next game that will be broadcast on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com will be Thursday, June 12th in Carrington against fellow central/eastern region team Nelson County, only the seven inning game will be broadcast starting about 5:15pm pregame, a five inning game will follow.
