Syverson, age 79, died May 19, 2014 at Sheyenne Care Center after a 3 year battle with lung cancer.
Warren L. Syverson, the son of Ann (Grady) and Orris Syverson, was born Feb. 1, 1935 at Esmond, ND. He attended school at Isabelle and Esmond and graduated from Valley City State in 1960 after serving 2 years in the US Army. In 1960 he married Janice Bauer, from McClusky, ND. Warren taught high school science for 35 years, the last 18 years at Edmore, ND. He was a wonderful teacher and affected the lives of many of his students. In his final years of teaching he was affectionately known as the “Old Silver Fox”. He believed in never failing a student. If you worked hard and tried you would accomplish much in life.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Warren and Janice have three children; James (Bee) living in Enderlin, ND, Sheri (Keith Lutjens) living in Valley City, ND, and Jon (Karla) living in Fingal, ND. They have 7 grandchildren; Brandon, Kristina, Alex, Mai, and Sara Syverson, and Eryn and Erika Lutjens. He has two sisters, Mary Syverson and Ardella (Denton) Boyer, and a brother Stanley (Lud).
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Neil (Susan), and his son-in-law, Keith Lutjens.
Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery at Mandan, ND in June.
