CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City State women’s basketball team has added some homegrown talent to their 2014 recruiting class. Valley City’s own Allyson Suhr signed a letter of intent on Thursday to wear the colors of her home town college.
After graduating from Valley City high school in 2012, the six foot center went on to play for the North Dakota State College of Sciences for two seasons. With the Wildcats, Suhr averaged nearly seven points a game while pulling down five and a half rebounds. In 28 games played she started 18, helping NDSCS to a 23-7 season and finishing runner up in the region.
Vikings Coach Jill DeVries said,” She (Suhr) will immediately help fill our needs in size and rebounding.” The Vikings leading rebounder from last season, Brittany Lehner, graduated in May. She had averaged just over seven boards a game for VCSU.
Suhr joins a Vikings team that finished the 13-12 on the season and ended the year in third place in the North Star Athletic Association with a 3-5 conference record.
