(NewsDakota.com) The final day of the 2014 WDA High School Baseball Tourney concluded yesterday at Astoria Field at the Southside Memorial Ballpark in Dickinson. In a state qualifying game, No. 6 Jamestown lost to the No. 1 Midgets of Dickinson 3-1. Dickinson improves to 23-5, Jamestown drops to 13-15 and ends their season.
Junior Lucas Herauf of Dickinson picked up the victory going the complete seven innings allowing one run with five strikeouts, no walks, one hit batsman on 76 pitches. Herauf retired the last 11 Blue Jay batters he faced. Brian Wenzel was the losing pitcher dropping to 2-3, with three strikeouts and two walks. Senior Tyler Ukestad knocked in Landon Weiser on an RBI double in the top of the fourth inning for the only Blue Jay run.
