(Denenny) Magnuson, age 90, formerly of Valley City, ND, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Sioux Falls, SD. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City, ND, at 11:00 a.m.
Mae was born October 13, 1923, to Fredrick and Sena Denenny at Borup, MN, and attended school there. During WWII, she worked at a munitions factory in Wisconsin, then at a nursing home in Moorhead, MN. After that, she moved to Valley City to work at a restaurant. She was staying at Bud’s parents’ home, when she met the love of her life. Mae married Harold (“Bud”) Magnuson on October 25, 1946. Later, she cooked for many years at cafés in Valley City.
After her loving husband passed away in April 2003, Mae continued to live in Valley City until medical conditions required her to move to a nursing home in 2007, at which time she chose to live in Sioux Falls, SD.
Mae is survived by sons, David (Janet) Magnuson of Devils Lake, ND, and Maynard (DonnaLee) Magnuson of Peoria, AZ; son-in-law, David Sabinash of West Des Moines, IA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Joyce Sabinash; grandson, Scott D. Magnuson; her parents; and 7 brothers and sisters.
