(NewsDakota.com) In a win or stay home scenario, the LaMoure-Litchville/Marion baseball team defeated Hankinson/Fairmount/Lidgerwood 16-6 in six innings in the play-in game of the 2014 Class B Region I Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Townsend Field.

The #6 seeded hometown Loboes took an early 4-0 lead after the end of the first inning off of four hits. In the top of the second, the #7 seed HFL responded with six runs on seven hits. LLM then scored the next 12 unanswered, and Brady Thielges surrendered just one hit the rest of the way to secure the victory.

Thielges earned the win for the Loboes, going six innings, allowing eight hits and struck out five. Jacob Zach took the loss for HFL, lasting just four innings, allowing eight hits, walking six and also striking out five. Anthony Olson, Parker Stemen, Brady and Drew Thielges, Ben Kietzman and Quinn Alo all scored two runs; Olson had a triple and a double. HFL, who had two hits from Zach, ends their second season competing without a Region I victory.
