(NewsDakota.com) On a chilly windy afternoon, the Cards traveled to Tolna to take on fellow Region 3 team the Knights of Dakota Prairie on their home field. Carrington shutout the Knights 15-0 by the 10-run rule in the fifth inning and improve to 13-6 overall and 6-3 in the region. Dakota Prairie drops to 3-9 overall and 2-6 in the region.
Shortstop Brady Smith of Carrington was a triple away from hitting for the cycle as he went 4 for 4 at the plate with four RBI and a solo home run, his fifth home run of the year. Patrick Freeman was the winning pitcher going four complete innings with seven strikeouts, he didn’t allow a hit until the fourth inning. Freeman was 3 for 3 at the plate with an RBI. The Cardinals hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the first inning, catcher Easton Paeper hit a 2-run homer, followed by Smith with a solo shot, both to left field.
