CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The North Dakota Board of Higher Education has unanimously agreed to select Margaret Dahlberg to become the interim president of Valley City State University.
Dahlberg, a native of Valley City will succeed Steven Shirley, who will take over as president of Minot State University July 1.
State Board of Higher Education Chancellor Larry Skogen says the board hopes to have a new VCSU president in place before the start of the January 2015 legislative session.
During the Board of Higher Education meeting held May 6 at VCSU, Dahlberg asked to be removed from the search committee looking for the school’s next president. She told us why she’s not interested in becoming the permanent president of VCSU.
Dahlberg has served as vice president for academic affairs for VCSU since 2009 and taught English at the school since 1996. She received her doctorate degree in English from the University of North Dakota.
Dahlberg has lived in Valley City for 24 years, 6 years as a child and 18 as a VCSU employee. She and her husband Paul have three adult sons, who all attended VCSU.
Dahlberg also serves on the Mercy Hospital Board of Directors; she is also a board member and secretary of the Barnes County Library Board.
