N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The dedication of the new Barnes County North Public School was held Monday, April 28.
Lt. Governor Drew Wrigley praised the new state-of-the-art facility and said the new building represents modern technology used to help teach students in North Dakota. He also presented the school with the first North Dakota license plate that commemorates the state’s 125 birthday.
First Lady Betsy Dalrymple promoted the Imagination Library that encourages children ages 5 and under to read. She says Imagination Library sends books directly to children in communities and school districts willing to sponsor the program.
Above photo, North Dakota Superintendent of Public Instruction Kirsten Baesler complimented the school district and the people who had the vision to support the project that will benefit area students.
Above photo, Building Authority President Wayne Christ held a plaque dedication ceremony. Christ thanked all the people and construction companies who worked hard building the new $12.7 million dollar school.
Above photo, Barnes County North School board chairwoman Lori Carlson told the audience that a building authority was set in place to construct the centralized school after a public vote failed 3 times to achieve the 60 percent majority required to build a new school in North Dakota. Carlson says in one of the election nearly 58 percent of the voters approved of the project. She says the school would not have been built if it was not for the strong support by so many people in the school district.
4th grader Bronson Haugen says students are excited about the new school and all it has to offer.

Former Barnes County North Superintendent Doug Jacobson says the idea of a centralized school was a vision that started 8 years ago. He says words can not describe the happiness he and so many others feel today to see this project come to fruition.
