ROCKFORD (NewsDakota.com)  A total of 14 games were played on Friday and Saturday over the weekend for the Carrington/New Rockford Baseball Jamboree.  Originally games were to be split between Carrington and New Rockford, but field conditions were still wet in Carrington, so all games took place in New Rockford.  The Cards played two games each on Friday and Saturday.  Here are the results:

FRIDAY:  Carrington 2  Harvey/Wells County 1

Eighth grader Jayden Shipman went 1 for 1 at the plate and drove in two runs in the bottom of the third inning to help the Cardinals beat the Hornets in the first game of the day on Friday.  Brett Lyman was the winning pitcher, going all innings in the five inning game, allowing only one run.  Harvey/WC drops to 2-2 overall. 

FRIDAY:  Carrington 5  Shiloh/Christian 1

 Easton Paeper was 3 for 3 at the plate and knocked in two runs to help the Cardinals beat Shiloh in the last game on Friday night.  Brady Smith was the winning pitcher, allowed just one run and no walks.  Braxton Hewitt was 2 for 3 for Carrington with a run scored.

SATURDAY:  Carrington 10  Mayville/Portland/Clifford/Galesburg 0

The Cardinals scored 10 runs by the fourth inning and won by the 10 run rule over the Patriots in the first afternoon game in New Rockford.  Braxton Hewitt was the winning pitcher allowing only two hits with four strikeouts, also he went 2 for 3 at the plate including a double and scored a run.  The Patriots are 2-3 overall this year.

SATURDAY:  Rugby 7  Carrington 6

The Rugby Panthers pick up their first victory of the year as they beat Carrington, it was the Cardinals second consecutive game of the day.  Alex Jarrett was the losing pitcher.  Braxton Hewitt was 2 for 3 at the plate also scored a run.  Brady Smith was 1 for 2 with two RBI.  The Cardinals are 6-3 overall, Rugby is 1-6.  

The High School Baseball game in Carrington today against Sheyenne/New Rockford has been postponed due to rain.  The Cardinals are scheduled to play Thompson tomorrow at 3:30pm, pregame at 3:15pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com
