(NewsDakota.com) The two games featuring the Oakes and Northern Cass High School baseball teams came down to the end in each contest. When the night was over, both teams earned a victory.

In the first game, the hometown Tornadoes defeated the visiting Jaguars 7-6. Oakes had a two run home run by Cole Kelly in the bottom of the first. Kelly finished the opening game with another two runs scored and a double along with a single.  Northern Cass made it a game late, but stranded the tying and leading runs in scoring position. Bryce Meehl picked up a save for Oakes, coming in for Jon Tyre, who finished with six and a third innings of work with seven strikeouts.

The second game saw the Jaguars able to come back in the bottom of the seventh inning to score all three of their runs in a 3-2 victory. Northern Cass was held to only one hit by Tornado starting pitcher Michael Kelly, who struck out 10, but ended with a no decision. Tyre ended up with the loss and blown save as he surrendered all three runs on five Jaguar hits in the bottom of the seventh. Meehl had a triple and a run scored for Oakes in defeat.

Oakes is now 1-3 in Class B Region I, and will next play in LaMoure on Monday April 28 against LaMoure-Litchville/Marion
