CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liners softball team opened the weekend thinking they would be spending their time in Fargo at the West Fargo tournament, but the weather changed plans just a little bit.
After falling to Minot Bishop Ryan 13-1 in the first game of the West Fargo tournament, the Hi-Liners found out the rest of the events would be canceled for the weekend. However, with the sun shining and temperatures reaching 60 degrees the Hi-Liners found a plying partner in Minot High.
The two teams met up in Valley City for a Saturday double header with the Hi-liners taking both games by scores of 14-3 and 8-6.
The Wins advance Valley City to 6-1 on the season. The Majettes loss drops them to 0-3 on the year.
Valley City 14 vs Minot High 3
In the opening game on Saturday, the Hi-liners got out to an early start scoring 4 runs in the first inning. Tarryn Justesen took care of Minot on the mound scattering 5 hits and striking out three batters in seven innings.
Paula Andel led the way for Valley City at the plate going 3-4, with two runs and 3 batted in. Dierra Diegel had similar numbers with a two for five performance at the dish with two runs and three RBI’s.

The Majettes proved to be a stronger opponent in the second game going score-for-score with the Hi-Liners before taking a 6-3 advantage into the fifth.
With just two innings remaining the Hi-Liners answered putting up a four run fifth as Dierra Diegel, Brooke Breckheimer, Saide Klingenberg and Justesen came around to score.
Coming in in relief for Danica Diegel, Justesen would capture her second win of the day allowing just one hit in the final three innings of play.
The Hi-Liners next game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15th when they travel to Devils Lake for a 4:30pm first pitch with the Fire Birds.
