CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City mayor Bob Werkhoven defeated challenger Jeff Edwards in the June 10 city election.

Incumbent city commissioners Matt Pedersen and Dewey Magnuson also retain their seats for a 4-year term.

Vote totals are as follows:

Mayoral Race:

Bob Werkhoven – 721 votes
Jeff Edwards – 581 votes

City Commission Race:

Duane “Dewey” Magnuson – 866 votes
Matt Pedersen – 779 votes
Gary Schlagel – 619 votes
