N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Buffalo City Tourism Board held their annual meeting on Monday, March 24th at the Jamestown Arts Center.
During the meeting, Executive Director Searle Swedlund presented numbers and costs in tourism for Jamestown. A presentation showing strong areas in tourism and costs that were generated for either advertising or promotion showed that tourism is growing, but there are still ways to improve.
According to the report, the estimated economic impact was up 5.73%. City restaurant and hotel collections were also up. In 2013, hotels collected 9.92% more revenue than in 2012 and restaurant collections were up 3.39%. These numbers showed that more people were visiting Jamestown.
Also announced during the meeting was the date of the new Brand launch. On May 9th, in coordination with National Tourism Week, Buffalo City Tourism will announce their new brand at an event. Discussed during the meeting was the possibility of using the new re-branded tourism logo for the water tower in Jamestown. The board voted unanimously to pursue putting the new logo on the water tower.
