CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) In their first event of the spring season, the Valley City State men’s golf team finished eighth at the Iowa Intercollegiate Championship in Moravia, Iowa.
On the opening day of play, the Vikings shot a team score of 329 on the course. When players and coaches arrived for the second day of play, cold weather had canceled the rest of the event leaving the scores locked in as the finals.
With a 76, Ben Sorenson had the best score for the Vikings placing him in 13th place individually. Casey Colemer had a 79 which was good enough for 28th.
Both Trevor Justesen and Beau Diegel golfed independently in the tournament. Justesen finished with an 84, while Diegel finished the day with a 90.
Cardinal Stritch won the team title with a combined score of 290, AIB College of Bussiness shot a 296 to claim second place, and William Penn College took third place with a 301.
