N,D (NewsDakota.com) The final buzzer sounded on the Jamestown girls basketball season on Friday night in a 64-60 loss to Bismarck Century in the state A consolation bracket.

It is the Blue Jays third loss to the Patriots this year, and ends their season at 12-12. Century advances to the State A fifth place game against West Fargo, and advance to 20-4 on the year.

For Century’s Macy Lynch it appeared that missing shots was not an option in the first half of the game. In the opening period of play Lynch knocked down 9 of 12 shots from the field and was four of five from three point range. She would finish the first with 22 points for the Patriots.

At the beginning of the game, it appeared that it would a quiet night for McKayla Orr who scored just 1 point in the first 13 minutes of the game. Then in the final five minutes of the opening half, the Jays senior guard erupted for seven points. Along with Paige Peterson’s 14 first half points the Jays would enter halftime trailing 38-33.

Jamestown and Century would trade leads continuously through the second half of play. With just 30 second remaining, Century would gain a two point advantage. Then on the ensuing play, MaKayla Orr would bring the ball down the court and throw up a shot that fell though. With bodies colliding under the basket it appeared that Orr had been fouled and would head to the free throw line with the chance to give the Blue Jays the lead. However, the officials called a charge on the Jamestown senior negating the points and giving the ball back to the Patriots.

In order to get the ball back Jamestown fouled Bismarck Century on the inbound. The Patriots would miss both shots giving the Jays one last chance. As time ticked away, Jamestown worked into their offensive zone. Peterson would find her self with the ball just 10 feet away from sending the game to overtime. Unfortunately, the shot would come up short bouncing off of the iron and into the hands of Century’s Alaina Furcht. With just two seconds left, she would be fouled. However, this time Furcht would not miss shutting the door on the Jays comeback.

In the loss the Jays were led in scoring by Peterson who finished the night with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Orr had a team high 24 points.

Lynch led all scorers in the game with 30 points. Jordyn Jossart had 12 for the Patriots.
