(NewsDakota.com) The Maple Valley High School girls basketball team took third place at the 2014 Class B Region I Tournament after defeating the Fargo Oak Grove Lutheran Grovers 49-43 on Thursday night.

The Lady Raiders lead wire-to-wire for third in the tournament. Maple Valley had a lead as large as 10 points early in the third quarter before the Lady Grovers answered to tie the game with just under 20 seconds remaining in the quarter. Oak Grove would fail to take the lead, but certainly had their chances in the fourth quarter; however the Lady Grovers took unconventional attempts for three when they were trailing by one point with four minutes remaining in regulation.

Maple Valley had 14 points from Rylee Nudell, and Megan Kasowski added another 13 as the Lady Raiders won all three games against the Lady Grovers this year. Oak Grove had a team high 12 points from Kristen Bokinskie.

Central Cass defeated Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah 56-51 in the Region I Championship to advance to the State Class B Tournament at the FargoDome next Thursday.
