(NewsDakota.com)  The final four teams in Region 3 girls basketball were in action last night at HMB High School.  There will be a new champion this year, as the Napoleon Imperials were beat by Ellendale in the opening round on Monday.  The two top seeds from District 5 competed against the two top seeds from District 6 last night.  Here are the results:

Kidder County 50  LaMoure-Litchville/Marion 21

 The Loboes score a season low 21 points and drop to the Lady Pirates last night in the first game of the evening.  Leading the way for Kidder County was Senior Guard Sadie Rohrich with 13 points, followed by Abby Randall with 10 off the bench.  The Loboes shot only 18% from the field, 7/37.  The Lady Pirates shot 46% from the field, 19/41.  LLM had 21 turnovers compared to 11 from Kidder County.

South Border 45  Ellendale 44

After two starters foul out in the second half for the Mustangs, they hold off a comeback by the Cardinals and advance to the Region 3 Championship game this Thursday night.  With about 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter, South Border was down by a point, after two failed shot attempts, Freshman Amy Jacobson for South Border grabs the rebound and scores with seven seconds left to put her team up by one point.  Ellendale had to go the full length of the court to get a bucket, but the in bounce pass was intercepted by South Border.  Leading the way and fouling out for the Mustangs was Senior Madison Schnabel with 16 points.  Kalli Scherbenske also fouled out for the Mustangs with 10 points.  Ellendale was led by Isabel Wedell with 13 and Madilyn Bommersbach with 12. 

THURSDAY’S SCHEDULE:

6pm –  Lamoure-Litchville/Marion  VS  Ellendale (3rd place)

20 min after – Kidder County  VS  South Border (Championship) – this will be a rematch of the District 6 Championship game, South Border won 46-43.

All games can be heard on TED FM 98.3, 102.7 and newsdakota.com starting about 5:45pm pregame.

The winner of the championship game will advance to the State Class B Girls Basketball Tourney in Fargo, starting Thursday, March 20th.
