Richard Duane Anderson was born March 9, 1935 at Valley City, ND the son of Carl and Marion “Mary” (Nelson) Anderson.  He attended school at Valley City and then enlisted in the US ARMY, serving in the artillery.  He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for many years and made his home at Pocatello, ID.  He collected guns and old western gear and each year would go to Arizona and participate in rattlesnake roundups.  He made clocks out of old frying pans to give away as presents.  He spent countless hours putting puzzles together, framing them, and then hanging them on his walls.  One time he went to a Twins game with Bill Galloway and after the game Bill introduced him to Roger Maris.  Richard was quite proud that Maris actually shook his hand. At one time, perhaps in the 60’s, Richard had a stock car and competed in races at Jamestown.  He said he even won once.

Survivors include his brother Robert Anderson, Las Vegas, NV and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Carl and Mary Anderson and brothers Charles, Ray, Donald, Merle, and Lorren .
