Oakes High School, with a 12-12 record, will play in the Class B Region I Championship for the first time since 2003 after defeating the Enderlin Eagles 82-69 in a Regional Semifinal matchup which proved to be yet another thrilling contest in this storybook run.
For the Tornadoes, this contest played very similar to the quarterfinal matchup the previous night against Kindred. Oakes was down early after the first eight minutes 26-19 and still trailed by seven points at the halftime break.
In half number two, the pressure came again from the Tornado defense, just as it did against Kindred. Oakes also shot the ball better in the second half, winning quarter three 23-15 and the fourth 29-17 to send them back to the Regional Title game in their final season competing in Region I.
Bryce Meehl finished with a team high 33 points, and was an outstanding 20 of 22 from the free throw line; including going a perfect 10 for 10 down the stretch. Ethan Zetocha added another 20 and Tristan Meier contributed 12 points.
