Gertrude Neys, 95, of Buchanan, ND, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown.

     Gertrude was born on September 8, 1918, on a farm near Buchanan, ND, the daughter of Sylvester and Helen (Wilma) Blaskowski. She attended the Rudnick country school and Buchanan grade school. Gertrude was active with the St. Margaret’s Altar Society and grew flowers to be used on the altar. She married Louis Neys on November 27, 1946 at the Pingree Parish house. They lived on a farm near Buchanan where she raised six children and was active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary and St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. Louis died on June 27, 1974. Gertrude was a cook for the Buchanan Public School for many years. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gertrude is survived by her six children, Jerry, Gary (Donna), Deb (Jack), Craig (Terrie), Ron (Paula), and Becky (Tim); thirteen grandchildren, Corey (Holly), Brent (Klarissa), Dustin (Sheena), Darin, Eric (Christi), Kyle (Savannah), Jacie (Justin), Brittney, Callie, Brad (Debbie), Braelynn (Greg), Christopher, and Angela; seventeen great-grandchildren, Hayden, Carter, Nolan, Brady, Mason, Kaitlyn, Jaelyn, Kyrah, Riley, Kaylee, Abbey, Jakoby, McKenna, Jewel, Michael, Kendall, and Evan; and two sisters, Bernice Helmstetler Zimney and Marie Plinski Drake. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis; sister, Harriet; and six brothers, Harry, John, Ralph, Robert, Joseph, and Sylvester.

     Eucharist of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND. Visitation: 3:00 p.m., to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2014 and 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2014 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown. Vigil: 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2014 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown. Interment: Buchanan Cemetery, Buchanan, ND.
