Jacob J. Andersen, age 86, of Luverne, ND, died Wednesday, December 18th as Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 23rd at the Lerud Schuldt Funeral Home Chapel in Valley City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Monday. Interment will be in the Luverne Cemetery, Luverne, ND in the spring.
Jake was born July 18, 1927. He farmed for many years near Luverne, ND. He also spent several years working for the Department of Agriculture doing crop reporting after retiring from farming. Jake was a talented, caring man who could fix or build anything he chose to; and a loyal and loving son who took care of his mother until she passed away.
Jake enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, telling stories and jokes with his friends in the cafe in Valley City, and he built beautiful bird houses in his later years.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Dorothy Andersen; his sister and brother-in-law Mary Ann and Eugene Miller; and his nephew and lifelong buddy for everything, David Miller. He is survived by the rest of his family who loved and will miss him always; Rick Miller; Mary, Allan, Austin and Michael Dukart; Diane Miller and Ed Mullner; Jean, Jim, and Garrett Schlenvogt; Erica, Chip, Lilly and Henry Hellman; Jo and Sarah Bickert; Becca, Dave, Jaxon, Ember, and Kyuss Beckler. He also had many friends who will miss him, including Cindy Hofman and her family.
Jake’s family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to Mark and Jody Sweningson and Mardy and Erin Dahl for their friendship and help they gave Jack in his final years. We also wish to express our deepest gratitude to the staff in the CCU at Essentia Hospital, whose compassion and care for Jake in his last days was incredible and will never be forgotten. Forrest, Mariah, Arijana, Jessica and Dr. Jazaan will remain in our hearts with Jake forever.
