CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) Milnor completed the Barnes County sweep on Saturday night with a 63-45 win over the LaMoure – Litchville – Marion, claiming the 97th Barnes County Championship.
The final game of the tournament came down to rebounding. Not only did the Bison win the battle of the baords 42-22 in total rebounds, but they out rebounded the Lobos 13-5 on the offensive side of the floor. Those opportunity’s led to numerous second chance points, and cashing in on many of them was the Bison’s Briton Bussman who totaled a game high 27 points in the contest.
Even when it seemed as though LaMoure would take a lead into the second quarter, Bussman answered with a half court shot at the buzzer that put the advantage back into the hands of the Bison. The rest of the game it seemed anytime the Lobos would pull back a little momentum, the Bison were quick to take it away.
While Bussman led Milnor in points, Wyatt Mund had 15 points in the game and Quincey Marlatt would score 12 off the bench.
Brady Thielges led the Lobos with 17 points while his brother Drew Thielges drove the lane for 13 in the game.
While the Bison claimed the most coveted trophy of the tournament, individual accolades were handed out after the championship game. The free throw champion was Daniel Lindgren of Enderlin. While the All Barnes County team consisted of the following players:
