(NewsDakota.com) The start of the 2013-14 season for the Oakes High School girls basketball team was going to be a difficult stretch with the teams the Tornadoes were to face.
Friday night in Casselton, it showed just how tough it could be. Oakes did not score a field goal until 6:22 to go in the third quarter as Central Cass flew away from the Tornadoes 64-19.
Oakes (0-1) managed just four points in the first half; all free throws. The Tornadoes just couldn’t contain the Squirrels offense lead by Faith Dooley who scored 24 points and had 9 rebounds. Abby Cramer added another 13 points for Central Cass (1-0), while Oakes had a team high nine points from Quinn Vculek.
Oakes will host the Ellendale Cardinals on Friday December 20. Coverage can be heard on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com.
