CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) After dropping the first three dual meets of the season, the Valley City Hi-Liners got back on track with a second place finish at the Knights of Columbus Tournament in Jamestown.
In their first tournament of the year, the Hi-Liners showed up to Jamestown with something to prove. Led by Reed Beckman, Taylor Johnson, Mark Miller, Zach Doty, and Jordan Magnuson who all claimed Individual championships in their weight classes, The Hi-Liners earned a score of 180.5, claiming second place in the six team tournament. Moorhead would earn the team championship totaling 232 points on the day.
It wasn’t just the varsity team that had a strong showing, the 8th grade team scored a solid 39 points in the contest, and the second year wrestlers tallied another 52 on the day.
After the tournament, Head coach Aaron Larson told his team, “to be happy with the way that they wrestled, but not satisfied.” He went on to say, “they need to stay focused on the larger picture and stay hungry.” The Hi Liners will have the chance to do just that when they travel to Fargo North on Thursday for a dual meet with the Spartans.
