(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School Principal and Activities Director has resigned amid an internal investigation that school officials say has been ongoing for nearly a week.

Don Warren officially submitted his immediate resignation to the Oakes School board Wednesday during a special school board meeting which lasted less than two minutes. The board voted unanimously to accept the resignation, and thanked Warren for his service to the district. Warren was not in attendance at the meeting.

Oakes superintendent Josh Johnson would not comment on the proceedings of the investigation, but did say the inquiry started last week, and should be concluded by the end of next week.

Warren was high school principal at Oakes since 1990, and the school’s activities director since 2001.
