(NewsDakota.com)- Ryan Chrest picked up the Dakota Bowl record for most rushing yards in a game… At halftime! Chrest scored three touchdowns on 12 carries with 293 yards in the first half alone as Cavalier dominated from the start to win the 2013 9-man championship over Westhope-Newburn-Glenburn, 54-6.  Cavalier improves to 11-0 overall, WNG drops to 10-3.

Chrest sent the Tornadoes to the half with a 38-0 lead on the final play when he scampered 52-yards while breaking a tackle and leaving a trio of Sioux tacklers in his wake into the endzone.

Cavalier’s defense, which didn’t allow a touchdown in the regular season, didn’t allow WNG any sort of breathing room. The Sioux had a couple chances to score when the game was still in doubt, including a trip to the Tornado 9-yard line. However that drive ended on downs when Cavalier sacked Sioux QB Hunter Braaten.

Cavalier scores twice more in the second half with the running clock. Chrest took one in from 74-yards away on the first play after a WNG fumble. The Sioux were able to punch one in late on a zig-zagging fun by Braaten.

Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn scored the final touchdown of the game to avoid the sweep.  Quarterback Hunter Braaten, Athlete of the Year in 9-man football, scored from 20 yards out.

The Tornadoes finished with 534 yards of rushing.  The Sioux finished with a total of 225 yards, 143 yards rushing.
