N.M. (NewsDakota.com)- The Jimmie men’s basketball team hung around against New Mexico for almost 20 minutes before the No. 20 team in the an NCAA DI pulled away for a convincing victory, 94-51.

The Lobos ended the game on a 21-0 run as Jamestown went scoreless for the final nine minutes. Coach Justin Wieck wanted his team to put a little fear in the crowd, something they accomplished late in the first half.

Breshion Tucker’s three-pointer with six minutes left pulled the Jimmies within 28-26 but that would be as close as they got the rest of the way. New Mexico scored 15 of the last 18 to take a 43-31 lead into the break.

The Lobos’ Cullen Neal hit a trio of triples early in half two and New Mexico never looked back.

Taylor Newton (11) and Mark Hoge (10) lead the Jimmies in scoring while five Lobos hit double-digits.

The Jimmies will head to Seward, NE Friday to play a pair of games this weekend. Friday they will battle No. 13 Oklahoma Wesleyan and Saturday No. 18 Culver-Stockton.

Both games will be on the radio. Friday’s tip-off is slated for 3pm and will be broadcast on 1400/97.1 KQDJ & NewsDakota.com
