(NewsDakota.com) The last time the Oakes High School football team made the post-season, they faced the Aggies of Park River-Fordville-Lankin in the opening round at home.

Just like two seasons ago, the hometown Tornadoes came out on top; this year knocking off the Aggies 33-7 on Saturday.

Quarterback Bryce Meehl threw two touchdown passes (6 yards to Cole Ehrlin and 47 yards to Kaleb Sell), and also ran 49 yards for a score. Eric Loepp scored from six yards out to start the offense for the Tornadoes, and Sell put the dagger in the Aggies with a 42 yard interception return for a touchdown with a second to go in the game. Oakes had almost 400 yards of offense.

Park River had 136 rushing yards at half, which included a 28 yard touchdown run by Jesse Blasky, but the Aggies had -29 yards on the ground in the second half.

Oakes will host a quarterfinal matchup next Saturday against Linton-HMB; a team the Tornadoes lost to 8-7 in week three of the regular season in Linton. Time to be announced, with coverage on KDDR-AM 1220 and NewsDakota.com
